In 2020 I had the pleasure to work on Biolum VR experience as 3D Creature Artist and Texture Artist with the great team of Reynard Films, Prefrontal Cortex and Iko Studio. It's a Franco-German co-production.
This fish creature is a mutation that has never existed in the real world. It is a combination of lionfish and fangtooth, influenced by a mysterious, glowing kelp.
The design of the emission textures for the bioluminescence glowing was a particular challenge here, as they significantly determine the character of the creatures in the game. The bioluminescence of the animals is greatly exaggerated, which results from the plot. It is possible to perceive the plasticity and details of the surfaces in VR by pointing the torch.
Biolum ist available on Steam.
